Long An province is stepping up the deployment of high quality rice fields. Accompanying this plan is to promote field mechanization, including the introduction of drones into production.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province, currently in the province, for rice, the land preparation stage has been mechanized 100%, harvested over 98% and dried seeds reach over 70% of the output.
Spraying aircraft
According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Thien - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province, over the past time, the province's agriculture sector has coordinated with Green and Green Agriculture Co., Ltd. to demonstrate unmanned spraying aircraft on rice fields.
This is a modern technology product with reliability and spraying efficiency of 10ha / 8 hours, 30 times higher than manual spray and water saving up to 90%.
The drone can spray over large areas and complex terrains within a control range of 7,000m. The aircraft carries 10 liters of water, the spraying capacity reaches 2-3ha / hour.

In particular, using a drone will be safer for sprayers because they do not have to come into direct contact with harmful chemicals.
Mr. Thien said that the introduction of drones into production is bringing about many meanings, contributing to motivating the introduction of mechanization into agricultural production to improve labor productivity, crops and promote promote commodity production in the field of cultivation.
Without waiting for cooperation with the agricultural sector, Chairman of the Board of Directors of An Long Cooperative (Duc Hoa district) Vuong Trong Nghia informed that the cooperative has recently tested spraying plant protection chemicals on the field by drones. . Users just need to mix the drug into the container, then use the remote control to operate the sprayer in the rice field. Thanks to this solution, the cooperative has saved a lot of time, labor, protected the health of producers, reduced costs ...
"Next time, the cooperative will invest in this equipment to serve production" - Mr. Nghia said.
Similarly, An Long High-Tech Agriculture Cooperative (An Ninh Tay Commune, Duc Hoa) also tested an aircraft spraying plant protection chemicals on rice fields. Mr. Dinh Van Tham - Director of An Long Cooperative said that the spraying of plant protection products with modern technology will contribute to reducing labor, reducing the impact of pesticides on the environment and affecting sources. water, soil.
Mr. Blanket calculated that the cost for 1 time of spraying by drones is ranging from 250-300,000 VND / ha. Compared to hiring labor, the cost is more than 200,000 VND / ha.
At the same time, it is estimated that spraying by plane will reduce the amount of spraying water by 29 times and reduce the amount of spraying by 20% compared to the manual implementation. Total mixing and spraying time when using a drone only takes about 30 minutes / ha.
However, the limitation of the use of drones is the high investment cost for machinery and equipment, and the farmer must have knowledge to operate the machine. Solving this problem requires people to link production, cultivate massively, focus area and use one variety ... When household links are made, large sample fields will be sprayed. by drones more efficient.
Continue to improve mechanization
In fact, in recent years, farmers in Long An province have applied mechanized agriculture to bring higher efficiency in production; contribute to effective agricultural restructuring, reduce losses, costs, improve the quality of agricultural products and increase profits.

However, the mechanization at a high rate in the rice fields in Long An is mainly concentrated in the land preparation and harvesting. The rate of mechanization in some stages, such as: cultivating, caring, spraying drugs, fertilizing ... is still very limited. Farmers have a mentality that if they sow the seeds simultaneously, they will not have the work to harvest until the rice is fully ripe. Therefore, in the winter-spring crop of 2019-2020, up to 85,670ha of rice areas in Long An are sown outside the recommended schedule.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province, since 2013, the province has planned high quality rice production areas for export rice processing with a cultivated area of more than 48,000 hectares in 25 communes of districts and towns in Dong Thap Muoi region. . The goal of the program is to promote competitive advantages, improve production efficiency and increase people's income.
According to Mr. Thien, in order to export key products, the promotion of mechanization is very important, especially the stages of preliminary processing, preservation and processing.
Accordingly, it is necessary to have guidelines and policies to plan for the overall agricultural development in general, to re-plan the inland irrigation and irrigation system in particular to facilitate the increase of the mechanization rate in production. The province continues to have policies to invest in equipment for rice production, especially harvesting machines and rice dryers in order to increase rice grain quality.
